Dianne Holum won four Olympic medals in speed skating.

In the 1968 Games, she tied for the silver medal in the 500 with fellow Americans Mary Meyers and Jennifer Fish. Holum won the gold in the 1000 in the 1972 Games at Sapporo, Japan, and took the silver in the 3,000.

After her years as a competitive skater, Holum became a respected coach, who coached her daughter and top-rated skater, Kirstin.
