Milwaukee Brewers legend Ryan Braun
to be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame
Milwaukee Brewers legend Ryan Braun, who won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 2011, was a six-time Major League All Star, and a five-time Silver Slugger winner, will be among the class of inductees for the 76th anniversary induction of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, presented by Network Health on July 8.
The much-anticipated induction ceremony will be held at the Marcus Performing Arts Center in downtown Milwaukee, with a pre-event reception beginning at 5 p.m. The inductees will be honored at an awards ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. in Uihlein Hall.
The Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, founded in 1951, was created to preserve the legacy and history of sports and athletic achievements in the state. Past inductees include Vince Lombardi, Hank Aaron, Donald Driver, Bob Uecker, Barry Alvarez, Brett Favre, Jordy Nelson, Oscar Robertson, Al McGuire, Bonnie Blair, and Ernie Johnson, Jr.
Braun, known for his ability to deliver in the clutch during his 14-year career with the Brewers, was part of five of the first seven postseason entrants in franchise history, including the 2008 team that ended the club’s 26-year postseason drought. Braun’s go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning of that season’s regular-season finale helped put the team back into the playoffs. Three years later, he hit another go-ahead home run in the eighth inning of a postseason clincher that won the Brewers' first division title since 1982.
He is at or near the top of the list for every major Brewers’ all time hitting marks, including having the most home runs in team history at 352. He ranks second among Brewers in RBIs (1,154), extra-base hits (809), total bases (3,525) and doubles (408). He ranks third in runs (1,080), hits (1,963), triples (49), stolen bases (216) and walks (586). He is fourth in games played (1,766).
Drafted fifth overall in 2005, he was named the National League’s rookie of the year in 2007 despite playing in only 113 games, slugging 34 home runs and batting .324.
"We are excited to celebrate Ryan for his incredible career with the Brewers that included so many amazing highlights,” said Brian Lammi, Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame co-owner. “When you talk about the greatest players in Brewers’ history, Ryan is among the best. He helped the Brewers get back to the playoffs and seemed to always be able to deliver the clutch hit. We look forward to honoring him as part of our 76th anniversary.”
Braun joins retired Green Bay Packers CEO Mark Murphy, Milwaukee soccer legend Bob Gansler, and Team USA wheelchair basketball two-time gold medalist John Boie in the 2026 class of inductees. The final inductee for the 76th anniversary of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame will be announced over the next several weeks.
